~ "I'll Show You Mine" Artist Mara Hesed
Mara Hesed
Mara Hesed is a good, Italian Catholic girl from St. Louis, MO. Being inexorably bound to making stuff, she tootled around the midwest for a while, picked up a completely worthless MFA and ultimately began her fated career as a starving artist acting in the theatre in Seattle, WA. Mara's formal education as a painter began almost 2 years ago here in LA with her mentor, Richard Shelton. Mara has been working on a series of self portraits, including one in process called 'Angel'. Mara is also currently hung in the LA Municipal Art Gallery over at Barnsdall.
Tuesday, August 25, 2009 ~ "I'll Show You Mine..." Performer - PrincessFrank
princessFrank is the lead singer/guitar player of the blues-rock duo MASTERSLAVE. He is also a drummer and one of the founding members of the massive mobile orchestra KILLSONIC. His solo performances have the spirit of the old blues masters with the voice and the story being the main focus. His performances are loose and come right off the top of his head as he plays guitar & pounds his bass drum with his heavy foot. He was born & raised in Los Angeles and has played music for 20 years.

Everyday observation, for me, is like looking through a lens, and everyday settings are potential backdrops often leading to self-imposed frames.
My work is the exploits of these instances.

NIGHTHAWKSLA: i.e, a creative explosion
NIGHTHAWKSLA: A festival, a special event, a space, a gathering, or if you will, a watering hole, for the obscure, the guarders of avant, for experimentation, for noise, for silence, a push pause go, an opportunity to go beyond a happening.
NightHawkLA's mission is to create a new paradigm for live experiences and community, which reflect and comment on the transformation our country and this city are continuously undergoing. Oh, and to do something that is just really cool. Our honorary chairpersons are not famous, but are working artists in the stew that is called "emerging". This is an event that should not be missed....
